AFP Conference and our New Release!
We just attended the Association of Fundraising Professional conference in Atlanta, and it was exciting to show off our new version of DonorPerfect Online. Prospects and clients raved over the new easy to use address validator, instant credit card button (now dubbed "Insta-Charge" by our marketing wizards), and other great reports and features.
We were also grateful to be recognized by AFP for our 20th year of supporting their conference, and my colleague, DonorPerfect's Senior Vice President Frank Chudnow, accepted the award in front of almost 3000 people. After his 15 seconds of fame, General Colin Powell, USA (Ret) took the stage and delivered a very dynamic speech on the power of leadership.
One of his quotes during the speech was:
So does your staff find you curious? Do you find it curious to follow your leader? That's some interesting discussions right there.
Finally, on another topic, this weekend we'll be releasing our newest upgrade. You should have received the newsletter- click here for a copy.
Let us know what you think! We'll be posting reviews from the upgrade in future blogs or newsletters, so don't be afraid to provide feedback!

Small question. Why on the basic screen isn't their a data field for URL/webpage? Given the number of individuals with their own pages - not to mention foundations, corporatations, etc. - it would seem like a pretty basic field to integrate into the base menu (and you could set the links to launch a new tab or a new window, rather than link to the page in the current window).
Good question.
You can easily have the organization's and/or individual's website captured on the first screen.
You simply need to add a custom defined field to the Main screen.
To do this, click on Utilities, User Defined Fields. You can then easily add the field (call it "Website") to the MAIN page.
One of the great features of our user-defined fields is that they are smart enough to recognize web addresses, ftp sites, or email addresses.
So, when you enter the web address in the website field and click on save, DPO will automatically create a link next to the field that will launch the website in a separate window- exactly as you described.
Try it out and let us know!
Good point. I'm not the database administrator, however, so I don't have the ability to edit the User Defined Fields. Seems like that's something that everyone should have access to as a default!
I think it's a good idea to make it a standard field, so starting tomorrow, it will be part of our standard template that is used to set-up new clients.
I would let your administrator know that you would like this field. It really is very easy to add, and even in the largest databases takes only a few seconds.
In the meantime, thanks for the feedback- that's the number one way we improve DPO!
Thanks a lot, our administrator already put it up and it's very much appreciated!
