A Slight Delay

Alas, I was hoping I wouldn't have to write this!

However, after running through a second round of tests with the new version, we decided that we needed a few more days to make sure it's completely ready to go. In addition, this extra time will also allow us to increase our support for the Mozilla (Firefox) platform that many clients use, so we're thinking of it as a double bonus.

Our Upgrade Newsletter announcing the new version is also being reworked a bit- however, I do know that it will be released early next week (or sooner) announcing all the features of the upgrade.

As I write this, we're putting the finishing touches on our newest release!

Automatic duplicate check, instant credit card transactions, a new comprehensive revenue report, a new and improved EFT process, instant address verification, improved soft credit linking are just some of the exciting new features that will be released.

We expect to make the release available this weekend, and it should be completed by Sunday morning. As always, we will send a newsletter describing the features and the newsletter will also be accessible from the home screen.

Don't get chomped...

Occasionally we get asked, "What's the future of DonorPerfect???" or "Is DonorPerfect going to be bought out like GiftMaker Pro was?"...Those sort of things.

Well, the future looks great- so great our marketing department decided to have some fun and produce a web-commercial for new prospects that are thinking of switching from their old fundraising software to DonorPerfect.

Instant Credit Card Authorization

Wow. It took exactly 6 hours for one of our clients to notice the new security option under Utilities, Security that turns off and on instant credit card authorization. Though it's not active yet, we plan on releasing this exciting functionality very soon.

Basically, when you enter a gift in DonorPerfect, you'll have an option to process a credit card on the Gift Screen. This will allow real-time authorization and validation of the card, and also set-up the process to collect the funds from the donor's credit card account. This authorization process is identical to the same process that you see in restaurants, retail stores, hotels etc., except that there's no physical card reader-you simply type in the credit card account information and expiration date.

You will need to set-up a credit card merchant account, and we're making that process easy too!

25 Years

This last Sunday night, SofterWare (the company behind DonorPerfect), celebrated its 25th year anniversary. Starting with Nathan Relles and working out of his garage 25 years ago, SofterWare has grown to over 150 employees serving over 15000 clients.

There's been a lot of milestones in those 25 years:

• Our first program didn't even need a hard drive- it ran on 8 inch floppy disks that held 128,000 bytes- or less than .00005% of your average hard drive today.
• We developed entry screens that could be changed- by the user and without programming- in our very first version in DOS, that are still the foundation of all our programs today.
• We were one of the first to develop a Windows based fundraising program.
• And finally, we've always been faster than our competitors (perhaps because we're more efficient!).

While we've had a very successful 25 years, we're not resting on our laurels and have some great projects planned. Very soon we'll be releasing our latest upgrade of DonorPerfect Online, which will includes some great new features that I know everyone will love and use. In a couple of months, we'll be offering instant credit card transaction authorization, straight from within DonorPerfect. Finally, automatic address validation and verification is on its way as well.
